We are slowly getting the new web site in order.   Videos are going up, posts are making their way forward, and everything from the old site should be finished being migrated shortly. So now what?   What we need is pictures from you.  This will not be the last request I have for alumni members but it should be easiest (and I don’t think I’ll ever ask for money).  I am looking for pictures, pictures, and maybe a few more pictures.

What type of pictures do you ask?

Pictures should fall into a four different categories

  • * Pictures from the current Alumni event
  • * Pictures from previous Alumni events
  • * Official School Pictures (these include the yearly full band picture, the senior band members picture, the flag corp. picture, the majorette squad picture, and if your year had them – squad pictures or instrumental section pictures).
  • * Personal band pictures from high school

What type of information should you include?

Well optimally we would like to know the year of the photograph, and the names of everyone in the photograph. When adding names please use maiden names whenever possible unless it’s one of those cases where someone got married while still in high school (which would be really really rare).  The exception to this is Alumni event photos where married names would be the rule.

How do you submit them?

Well there are a few ways (ordered from best to worst):

  1. * Flickr – if you have a flickr account upload any images to there at the highest quality setting.  Resizing means it becomes pixilated as you zoom in – the higher quality the image the less pixelization we get.  Since Flickr allows photos of unlimited size, this really is the best option.
  2. * Another photo sharing website – if you have a website that you show images on publicly, send me the web address with the album or directory with the images and I’ll go grab them.
  3. * If you are familiar with and understand the term FTP, contact me and I’ll configure it so you can FTP me the files.
  4. * Email me (Brent Gueth) at creeva [at] gmail.com with the photos as attachments – the maximum email size is 25 Megs – so you may need to send multiple emails depending on the amount of images.
  5. * Facebook or Myspace albums – now I know many of you are using them, and they are great and handy.   The downside is they limit the maximum size of an image and convert it accordingly.  This leads to the pixelization problem when zooming in that I mentioned in option 1.  However if this is your only option make sure I’m added to your friends list (my profile on facebook and my profile on myspace) you can send me a message and tell him which photo album I should take the images from.  (As a side note one experiment trying to get the Ducky logo it seems that if you mail images through facebook instead of uploading them to an album it doesn’t resize them – so this would be a great option also).

So pull out those scanners, dump images from your memory cards, and let’s get cracking.
