Tunes:

  • Opener– We are going to open with sideline entrance drill to Long Train Running. For those of you who were on the ’07 Disney trip, we’ll try not to combine LTR with the Fight Song this time (inside joke). I’m going to rewrite a pretty simple drill that will be easy to learn so we can spend more time on the closer.
  • Majorette Feature– Dawn chose The Impression That I Get for the majorettes. It was a fun # that the Sailors used several years ago.
  • Reset or down front number– This is going to be Basin Street Blues. One of Bill’s favorite #s. I am planning to write the “call” melody part of the song for any wind instrument (sorry drummers) so that all of Bill’s students can come down front and play that in his memory.
  • Flagline Feature– Lee the flagline maven, chose Memphis for her girls. I wanted Kansas City, Chicago, New York or (theme from) Dallas, but–oh well.
  • Closer– Two of the signatures of the Burt years were the diamond drill and backwards marching. Since we did the diamond drill last year we’re going to do MacArthur Park and backwards march off the field. This is a tougher drill to learn so we will need more time with it.
