Marching to no end
The Sailor Marching Band began the 1998-1999 season style, sporting new uniforms in the traditional colors of purple and gold. They had been wearing the same uniforms, in the dark blue and white connected to the Navy, for over thirty years
In their sparkly new threads, the band attended all of the home and away games. Weekends were packed with activities as they traveled to several festivals and served as hosts to their own Woolybrea Festival and Parade. One of their achievements this year was winning second place at the Cleveland Christmas Parade and appearing on Channel 8 News.
Their hard work and accomplishments were rewarded with a special tip and a performance at Disney World in the spring.
Majorettes and Flags
The 1998-99 Majorettes and Flags were led on the field this year by Head Majorette Beth Kul and Flag Captain Cassandra Kish. Their leadership guided the many new members of the corps last summer. It was practice, practice, practice as they mastered new routings.
In the off-season, the flag corps attended a dance camp that was held at the Winter Flag Guard Festival. They took first place in the competition held there. The majorettes were equally rewarded with a first at the ’98 Cleveland Christmas Parade. An already good year was made great when both squads performed and attended training sessions at Disney World when the marching band traveled there in the spring.
