The musical is based on the 1909 play &#8220;Liliom&#8221; by Ferenc Moln\u00e1r and is set in a coastal town in Maine during the late 19th century. Here is a summary of the plot:<\/p> <p>The story begins with the introduction of Billy Bigelow, a charming but troubled carousel barker. He meets and falls in love with Julie Jordan, a sweet and naive millworker.
